What does the TTB look for when sampling your beer?

The TTB tested beers and malt beverages for compliance issues. The most commonly found problems, listed in order, were:

  1. Alcohol content: under
  2. Alcohol content: over
  3. Non-mandatory information differs from the COLA
  4. Mandatory information is missing
  5. Government warning has errors
  6. Mandatory information differs from the Certificate of Label Approval (COLA)
  7. No COLA
  8. Type-size/legibility
  9. Mandatory information on wrong label
  10. Class, type, or statement of composition is incorrect
  11. Prohibited practices
